For the last two years, Noble Insurance has been a proud participant in a very special and fun-filled charity event: the Barrie Dragon Boat Festival.

Held every August on Kempenfelt Bay, the race aims to strengthen community spirit while supporting the Barrie Public Library as well as local charities.

Noble Insurance joined in with fellow Barrie–Simcoe Insurance Brokers for the second year in a row to raise money for Rainbows for All Children Canada. And thanks to Aviva pitching in the $1000 entry fee for the group, all the money raised was able to go directly to the cause.

From its national office in Barrie, Rainbows Canada offers free peer support programs for children and youth going through a death, divorce, separation or painful family transition. The charity’s work makes a big difference to the over 100,000 Canadian children affected each year by such traumas, helping them cope with their grief rather than acting out or withdrawing in unhealthy ways. Since its founding in 1983 by Suzy Yehl Marta, a divorced mother of three in Chicago, Rainbows for All Children has helped over 2.6 million single parent and stepfamily children in 18 countries around the world.

“We wanted to pass along a great big ‘ThankYou’ for your support. Together, with your assistance as a Team Sponsor, this money will make a huge impact for so many children and youth experiencing trauma in their lives.”

Noble’s own swashbuckler Heather Hill represented Noble Insurance this year. “The event involves practices through the summer in order to learn how to paddle the boats correctly,” Heather said. “The races are 500 metres long and are very challenging. The day was beautiful and we had a terrific time.”

In the words of Anna-Maria Buck from the Barrie–Simcoe Insurance Brokers Association, “We wanted to pass along a great big ‘Thank You’ for your support. Together, with your assistance as a Team Sponsor, this money will make a huge impact for so many children and youth experiencing trauma in their lives.”
